Ten days before the citizens of Chicago elected its new Mayor, IADO put forth its support and endorsed former White House Chief of Staff and Congressional representative, Rahm Emanuel. The endorsement session took place at North Shore Banquets in the Devon business district.
During the month of January, the newly elected board members voted to endorse Ameya Pawar, who was running for the Aldermanic seat in Chicago's 47th ward. Ameya went on to declare victory on February 22 as the First Indian and Asian American elected to a Chicago City Council seat.
